Chowin’ down in East Chinatown @ AAA Bar

Now, you know there’s lotsa great BBQ joints all over this city, but I did not expect to find one in East Chinatown. So, we’re hanging out at AAA Bar at Gerrard and Broadview, right across from a Chinese grocery store. But there ain’t no chickity China, the Chinese chicken here, Barenaked Brodies! Instead, they’re serving up the classics like beef brisket, dry rub ribs, pulled pork…and even chicken and waffles!

But you know that right here on Triple B, we’re all about that beef. Their beef brisket was more au jus than Texas BBQ, mind you. Good thing it came with a slice of bread on the side–now where’s the beef dip?

This coleslaw was pretty Crunchasaurus Rex. They give you a big bowl of it for just four bucks, so I probably had at least 2-3 servings of veggies today…

Now, the mac and cheese wasn’t exactly cheesetastic, but this Bomb.ca smoked sausage more than made up for it! You’ve got quite a bit of kick from the holla-atcha-penos, and then some oozy queso in every bite. It’s like the Tag Team Champions of Flavourtown Sausagefest!!!!

Of course, you can bet your bottom dollar there ain’t nobody drinking Bud Light at this backyard cookout. This place has actually got Alberta Genuine Draft on tap–that’s right, all the way out in Toronto–but we’re getting into the good stuff… Big Rock Traditional. This malty brown ale goes pretty darn good with some BBQ sausage, Stampede Broseph!!!!

Smoked BBQ corned beef, bro!!!

So, we’re hanging out at Smoke Bourbon, this funky neighbourhood BBQ joint on a residential stretch of Harbord Street, just a couple blocks away from Bathurst. Now, when it comes to barbecue, this place has some of the best deals you’ll find all over this city! Last time I was here, I had a yuuuge slab of beef ribs and two sides for just 19 bucks. But this time, I paid even less than that…check out this hunka-hunka smokin’ meat!

Now, it’s not every day you’ll see corned beef in a smokehouse, son! They take this Jewish deli classic and smoke it for 14 hours before slicing off two big portions for this 18-dollar dinner. The meat is nice and tender, falls apart on your fork, you’ve got some tang from the dill pickles and a nice crunchy slaw…but the mac is what makes it. This shit is macktastic, bro!!!!

(Cuz apparently, I didn’t eat enough mac ‘n cheese last weekend or something…)

FRONT STREET FOODS: These fish ‘n chips are totally off the hook!

Now, I dunno about you, but I loves me some fish ‘n chips. You’ve got some flaky fish in a crunchy beer batter, some crispy fries on the side… Dude, this is body by fish ‘n chips! So when I found a funky little food stand serving up fish ‘n chips for only 10 bucks, you know I had to check it out, bro:

Now, they sure don’t shortchange ya at this place. You’ve got a nicely fried piece of fish, a whole pile of hot, seasoned, spicy fries and a great big slab of crunchy coleslaw. They give you so much sides, I could almost use another piece of fish, or three, or seven…and just barely have room for dessert!
