SUMMERLICIOUS 2019: Tacos & burgers & churros… Yeah bro!

So, we’re hanging out at Craft Beer Market, where they’re serving up a few of my favourite things for Summerlicious — we’re talking tacos, we’re talking ’bout burgers, we’re talking churros for dessert…and oh yeah, craft beer!!!

cubano_street_tacos (5)

These cubano street tacos come two to an order, but you could almost stuff all of this into one double-shell taco. (I didn’t, though.) You’ve got pulled pork, fried onions, cilantro and a citrusy mustard mojo — shut the back door, bro!

craft_classic_burger (8)

For the main event, we’re going Classic Burger — two beef patties, pickles, lettuce, tomato, special sauce… Of course, I paid a buck fiddy to add bacon, cuz the first rule of Flavourtown is always add bacon!!!

Now, for dessert we’re talking churros, sprinkled with icing sugar and sprayed with an imperial-stout infused Nutella. But you KNOW that’s not the only alcohol heading straight down my beerhole, bro!!!

shaggin_wagon_ipa (1)

This Shaggin’ Wagon IPA from Stray Dog is like a boogie van in Flavourtown! It’s got a nice citrus kick, but not too hoppy at 55 IBU…and it kinda sneaks up on you at 6.4%.

electric_unicorn_white_ipa (3)

This Electric Unicorn White IPA is basically my spirit animal…if my spirit animal was a beer. It’s surprisingly smooth for 75 IBUs, and at 6.5%, it’s also not for wimps!!!

They call this the 20 Napkin Burger…but I only needed 12.

So, we’re hanging out at Craft Beer Market, the massive craft beer hall right downtown on Yonge St. I went here once before to see the wonderful Wizard of Gose, but this time I’m back for the burger. I’ve heard they’ve got a bunch of funky ones, but this one here’s their Marky Mark. Say hello to the 20 Napkin Burger, bro!

20_napkin_burger (8)

Dude, this has gotta be the biggest burger I’ve had all month! You’ve got two burger patties, topped with bacon, some beer-can chicken and this messy cheese sauce oozing all over the place. Plus, they put another slider on top, in case you’re not quite full yet. They actually took a bunch of my napkins away before I could take this picture, but let’s just say it was pretty messy:

Of course, you KNOW I didn’t scarf this down with a side of soda water… This ain’t Burgers, Bacon & Diet Coke, bro! Instead, I went with a Peachy Keen Milkshake IPA from the renegades of funkaliciousness at Lake of Bays:

This boozy creamsicle was on my beer bucket list, bro! You’ve got a huge hit of peaches, with a slight, not too hoppy IPA finish. And there might not be any soft-serve in here, but it’s sure got a nice ‘n creamy head!

We’re off to chug the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Gose!

So, we’re hanging out at Craft Beer Market, this massive new brewpub that just opened last week, right at Yonge and Adelaide. Man, this place has got so many different kinds of brews that I don’t even know where to start…but like a tin man once said, just follow the yellow brick road, bro!!!

wizard_of_gose (1)

This here’s the Wizard of Gose, a funky sour beer from Bandit Brewery on Dundas West. Now, I’ve never gotten drunk on apricots before, but I could probably slam at least three of these…if there weren’t so many other beers to choose from!

juicy_ass_ipa (4)

This here’s the Juicy Ass American IPA from the funky chunkies at Flying Monkeys. With 69 IBU, it’s pretty much grapefruit juice…if grapefruit juice were beer.

banana_split_stout (3)

So, after going ape over apricots and shaking a tail to some grapefruit-bitter beer, there’s only one thing left to do–and that’s go bananas, bro! This Banana Split Stout is a collabo between Wellington Brewery and the bar itself, and it’s only on tap for a limited time. I gotta say, it’s not super banana-y, but if you ever wanted to drink Guinness for dessert, this is probably the next best thing.

craft_beermarket_nachos (2)

Oh yeah, and they’ve got stuff to eat, too. This massive pile of nachos was only nine bucks. In fact, every app on the menu is nine bucks on Monday, but this one’ll save you the most money. While these might not be the best nachos ever (Holy Uneven Cheese Distribution, Batman!), they get the job done after a buncha beers, though!
