Beef brisket sandwich two ways @ Smoke Bourbon

So, we’re hanging out at Smoke Bourbon, one of the best BBQ joints in this city. At this place, you can get a whole buncha beef ribs for less than 20 bucks, but sometimes, all I want is a sandwich…wait, make that two sandwiches. Well, they’ve got you covered there too, dude!

Their corned beef is kinda like a Texas twist on a culinary classic. The meat is thinly sliced, melt-in-your-mouth, but packs a nice smoky kick that you won’t get a Jewish deli!

On the other hand, their smoked brisket sando is something you won’t see in Laredo, bro! Sorta like their Bloor Street spinoff, Bourbon Street Barbecue, this place pulls their brisket instead of slicing it…although the texture’s a lot thicker over here. It’s definitely a hearty dish in its own right–I could barely eat both of these and still have room for dessert!!!!

Smoked BBQ corned beef, bro!!!

So, we’re hanging out at Smoke Bourbon, this funky neighbourhood BBQ joint on a residential stretch of Harbord Street, just a couple blocks away from Bathurst. Now, when it comes to barbecue, this place has some of the best deals you’ll find all over this city! Last time I was here, I had a yuuuge slab of beef ribs and two sides for just 19 bucks. But this time, I paid even less than that…check out this hunka-hunka smokin’ meat!

Now, it’s not every day you’ll see corned beef in a smokehouse, son! They take this Jewish deli classic and smoke it for 14 hours before slicing off two big portions for this 18-dollar dinner. The meat is nice and tender, falls apart on your fork, you’ve got some tang from the dill pickles and a nice crunchy slaw…but the mac is what makes it. This shit is macktastic, bro!!!!

Where to get great BBQ ribs in Toronto for under 20 bucks

If you eat out a lot, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve got a whole buncha smokehouses in The Big Smoke nowadays. And man, I love me some smoked food—pulled pork, beef brisket, real-deal ribs… Sometimes I’ll even order all three at once! And while you’ll never go hungry at a good BBQ joint, all that food is gonna cost ya—and I’m not just talking ‘bout the next morning.

Not so at Smoke Bourbon BBQ, on Harbord Street in The Annex. This funky neighbourhood joint is too legit to quit! Man, this place has everything—smoked PEI mussels, brontosaurus beef ribs, pulled pork nachos… They were even showing a CFL game on TV, and bro, nobody watches the CFL in Toronto unless the Argos are playing—in the Grey Cup.

So this really is my kinda place. But what sealed the deal were the beef ribs.

Now, how much do you think these beefy beauties cost me? Probably 25-30 bucks, right? Wrong you are, sire! This entire combo was just 19 bucks—and that includes two sides (fries and cornbread).

And they don’t just give you one little cornbread muffin, either. That’s not two, not three, but four pieces of cornbread on this platter. Again, all of this was only 19 dollars! Dude, Donald Trump gets haircuts that cost more than that!!!

And hey, I gotta say that after scarfing down these ribs with a side of Texas BBQ sauce (all their house-made sauces are served on the side, but they give you little brushes to brush ‘em on the meat), I actually DIDN’T have room for dessert! But that’s probably because I chowed down like a killer clown at Taste of Toronto earlier that day…
