PATIO LIT EATS: Super-legit lobster linguine!

So, the first time I went to Sofia, this funky Italian joint in Yorkville, I had steak ‘n eggs. And then, the second time I went, I had steak again. So this time, we’re gonna switch it up with a super-delish summer dish… Say hello to ma lil’ friend, lobster linguine!

OK, now let’s break it down. You’ve got oodles of nice, chewy noodles, with a tangy pomodorini (cherry tomato) sauce, some stracciatella cheese and these big, meaty chunks of lobster on top. Throw in some bread, and you’ve got an Italian lobster roll in Flavourtown!!!

Now last week, when we went to Blu, they were all outta tiramisu. It was literally the only dessert they didn’t have. So you KNOW this time we’re gonna order a round of tiramisus for the table, bro! You’ve got a great big bowl of ladyfingers and marscapone, topped with a crunchy layer of cocoa, and a scoop of espresso gelato on top — shut the front, back AND side doors, son!!!!

Slammin’ a 20 oz ribeye @ Sofia!!!

Now, I wouldn’t normally order steak at an Italian restaurant, but a couple weeks back, I had some legit steak ‘n eggs at Sofia, this funky Italian joint in Yorkville, so you KNOW I had to come back for their 20 oz ribeye, bro!!!

Here’s the beef, bro! This steak isn’t just legit, it’s too legit to quit! You’ve got a perfectly cooked medium-rare, nicely seasoned with a little pistachio salsa verde, a side of baby onions, and some red hot cherry peppers. Now, I also paid extra for some oyster mushrooms — dude, this is body by oyster mushrooms!!!

Turns out, they were supposed to be a family-style side dish…that’s a whole lotta mushrooms, son!!!

Washed it all down with this gangster cocktail — the Godfather II. Kinda tastes like a Negroni, but it’s got a lot more ingredients, with single malt whiskey, vermouth, a couple Italian liqueurs and some Green Chartreuse, for that extra kick. It’s like an offer you can’t refuse in Flavourtown!!!!

Solid steak ‘n eggs @ Sofia!

Now you know me, I don’t always get up in time for breakfast, bro–unless, of course, there’s steak involved. So, we’re hanging out at Sofia, this funky Italian joint in Yorkville, that’s serving up brunch on the weekends, with dishes like ricotta pancakes and cacio e pepe scrambled eggs… But I came here for one thing, and one thing only, and that’s steak:

OK, now let’s break it down. You’ve got a 4 oz tenderloin, grilled medium rare and sliced up nicely, which goes great with the fluffy scrambled eggs. Then on the side, you’ve got a whole vine of cherry tomatoes, some charred onions, mixed greens and a couple slices of Focaccia — cuz you KNOW we ain’t gluten-free, bro!!!!!!

Washed it all down with their signature Verde Bloody Mary. This breakfast smoothie in Flavourtown has got cucumber and mint vodka, Clamato, lime juice, steak spice and some pickled olives, for added nutritional value. Between those babies, the tomatoes and the salad, I musta had at least three servings of veggies this week!!!!
